Role of Pile Spacing on Dynamic Behavior of Pile Groups in Layered Soils

This research investigates the influence of pile spacing on dynamic behavior groups by performing a series specifically designed centrifuge experiments foundations embedded in two-layered soil profile. A single and two 3×1 row with different were used as model foundations, models consisted soft clay underlain dense sand. The earthquake frequency soils is discussed using data 1D site response analysis from DEEPSOIL. Further, results these tests agreed conviction that group effects will be diminished increase pile-to-pile due to reduced pile-soil-pile interaction. However, can lead larger kinematic bending moments widely spaced compared closely group. Moreover, always has than both tested groups—an exception this when there significant phase difference between inertial loads for but not shadowing location peak piles are also paper. Lastly, an attempt made evaluate individual contribution seismic design considering soil-pile-structure interaction effects.
